what3words
Have you heard of what3words? It’s been around for a while now, but I wanted to highlight it here as it’s a clever concept. It encodes geographic coordinates into three dictionary words – so every three metre square across the globe can be identified with three words.
Here’s where I am: ///beauty.latches.highs
The encoding is fixed, so if you don’t like the three words that have been assigned to a particular location, there’s not much you can do about it!
What can it be used for?
It allows organisations with larger premises to specify precise locations, such as building entrances, areas of a park, etc.
Outdoor enthusiasts can use it to share precise starting points for activities/favourite places, and it can also be given to the emergency services to pinpoint out of the way locations.
How do I use it?
To add what3words to your WordPress contact page, visit https://what3words.com, find your address, copy the link and paste it into your contact page alongside your other contact details.
You can also download the app for when you’re out and about.
Let me know if you need a hand!
